DeNoiser with Noise Print Wizard: The DeNoiser removes annoying background noise from wave projects/objects.

New and extended mastering effects and dynamics

Brilliance enhancer: The brilliance enhancer is a tool for compensating for loss of higher frequencies. Such a loss often occurs during MP3 compression or tape recording.
In contrast to an equalizer, which only raises existing frequencies, the brilliance enhancer recalculates new overtones from the remaining signal and markedly refreshes the sound.

Multiband Dynamics: When this option is selected the same internal processing routines are set as in the "Advanced Dynamics" module.
Multiband Enhancer: The "Maximize"- Fader improves the stereo image by compressing the side-signal.
Advanced Dynamics: If you use "Advanced Dynamics" as a track effect and it is not a track surround effect, the "Side Chain" button will appear.
The activation of this option requests an external signal for calculating the internal control signal.

Resampling / Timestretching: The "Universal HQ" algorithm offers good audio quality with almost any audio material. CPU power usage is, however, very high.
For this reason, this algorithm is not very appropriate for realtime use with many simultaneously playing objects.

Overview mode

Overview mode represents all objects from your project in a clear fashion below the arranger tracks. Open Overview mode via the "View menu > Overview mode". To select the desired section, draw the appropriate lasso around the overview using the mouse. The selected section will then follow the scrollbars in the arranger. You can position the section by clicking on the desired location of the arranger. In one-track virtual projects (VIP) and WAV projects the waveform will be shown in Overview mode.

New range handling

  • Range remains in Loop mode if the cursor is repositioned.
  • Playback can be started before, or within the loop.
  • In Loop mode, the entire project is looped if a range has not been selected.
  • Range ends can be adjusted during playback as well.
  • The play range can be deleted by dragging to size 0.
  • The current range can be deleted by double clicking next to it.

Advanced ruler / time display

Use the context menu of the grid bar to switch on two grid bars in the arranger and set your own measurement unit (2. Show grid bar). Both grid bars can be changed (Change Grid). If you select Independent time format in the transport window, the upper grid will adapt to a chosen BPM grid, unlike the lower grid. This way it's possible to select an SMPTE format independent of the project frame rate and thereby get an overview of two different SMPTE displays.

MAGIX Plug-in Suites
Analog Modelling Suite: am-munition (Sequoia and Samplitude 10 Pro)

am-munition is a program compressor/limiter, using which you can spice up your mix and give it more kick. This mastering and dynamics tool makes your mix not only louder and adds definition, but can also be used as a limiter. In this process transients are conserved and a compact, but nonetheless loud signal is delivered. This occurs via a relatively slow serial compression and a soft clipping for the stray level peaks. am-munition is sidechain-capable and can also be employed for M/S processing.

Side Chain Routing

For advanced dynamics and VST/MAGIX plug-ins with more than two inputs you can now use sidechain routing at track and at master level. In the menu of a correspondingly equipped VST/MAGIX plug-in (e.g. am-munition) as well as in the Advanced Dynamics you can activate the sidechain and specify one or more of the previous tracks as the sidechain input(s). In the tracks which were set as the sidechain signals, the track name of the fed track will appear in the AUX section above the Send Level. Internally, a sidechain bus (AUX bus) is created. Right-clicking on the AUX send button selects this as "Sidechain send". The "Sidechain solo" function bypasses the corresponding effect and only the input of the sidechain is played. When closing the dialog, the "Sidechain solo" function is reset.

New "Tempo" menu with audio quantization

In the new "Tempo" menu you will find new commands for audio quantization alongside the tempo/beat markers and metronome settings.
    These are:
  • Detect Transients
  • Consolidate Transients
  • Split at Transients
  • Quantize Audio Object Positions
  • Reset Audio Object Quantization
  • Fill Object Gaps
These commands reflect the typical working procedure when "adapting" a multi-track drum recording to the VIP grid. All of these commands are applied to the object selection. Furthermore, you can also use a new audio quantization wizard.

Independence LE

As an additional program, Independence LE from yellow tools is available to you. During the installation process you will be asked if you want to install the program and its content (4 MB). After the installation you can use Independence LE as a plug-in in Sequoia. Independence LE is a sample workstation and aids in realization, adjustment and creation of authentic instruments. The sampler architecture is built up in a modular fashion. Independence LE comes with a 4 GB sound library. Here is an excerpt from the included PDF manual: "Independence is the first product based on the innovative yellow tools Advanced Instrument Technology (A.I.T.). In combination with the RF-HDD ultra fast disk streaming and the auto RAM cleaner, an unbeatable performance is possible: An unlimited number of layers and samples, unlimited polyphony, unlimited count of insert effects and filters, unlimited number of custom channels (internal virtual channels) and BUS channels... Independence manages all this fully automatically and simultaneously in the background."
    Full version limitations:
  • No audio file importing is possible
  • runs only in Sequoia and Samplitude
  • less content than the full version

Additional new MIDI/VST(i) features

  • Object update while recording
  • Advanced options for MIDI device configurations (i.e. renaming, SysEx filter)
  • List of MIDI input devices in the MIDI options
  • Update for MIDI (loop) recording and object cutting

Video recording (Sequoia)

The "Video recording" function enables the recording of audio and a video track at the same time. The recording is possible from all capture devices available on the system. This way, you can record a reference video track in order to document the stage activity in addition to the multi-track recording and then take this into account when mixing later.

Routing Manager

It is now possible to use a new manager for routing purposes. It provides you with a clear overview of the inputs and outputs of all tracks:

  • Matrix display of the inputs/outputs for all tracks
  • Assigning multiple tracks to the same inputs/outputs by clicking on the first and Shift + Click on the last track. This enables vertical or diagonal routing.
  • In the output section, all tracks are displayed as potential submix busses behind the play devices, a track can be quickly converted into a submix bus with a click of the mouse.

SMPTE Audio Sync (Sequoia)

In Sequoia synchronization window (Keyboard shortcut: Shift + G) you can synchronized the selected input with an SMPTE signal. In this way, you can synchronize Sequoia with an external time code. This function is available only for ASIO.

Smart Dithering

New options implemented for wave files (default "on") and virtual projects (default "off") for 16-bit export / CD burning. Dithering only occurs if the bit depth deviates from 16 bits.

New control bars with skin handling

By right-clicking on a symbol button you can change the skins for symbol buttons, display large symbols and adjust the control bar.

Advanced project length / WAV length

  • VIP projects can now be up to 168 hours in length.
  • There are no more length restrictions on WAV files with NTSF. Recordings are written to a large RIFF64 file. If under 2 GB, it will be compatible with normal wave files. Furthermore, by FAT 32 a split in W01, W02, etc. results.

Take advantage of all the features in Sequoia 9.1 / Samplitude 9.1:

New function "Transfer cuts": (Sequoia only): With this you can make cuts in selected tracks and then transfer them onto other tracks of your project. This way, a rough cut can be clearly executed on a track before being applied to all target tracks of the multi-track project. Here there are a number of different search algorithms ordered according to file name from which you can choose.

Optimization of internal Sequoia video integration as well as master/slave synchronization (Sequoia only)

The Hybrid Engine now supports up to 4 CPUs / cores for audio processing. Furthermore with "Hardware Monitoring / Hybrid Engine" you can use a new monitoring mode.
Here, like in "Hardware Monitoring" mode, input signals are not routed through the program, but through "Asio Direct Monitoring (ADM)" depending on the hardware. The Hybrid Engine, however, controls playback.

The "Performance" dialog is also new to the system options.
The options listed in it serve to set up your system processor optimally. Here you'll also find ASIO Silence Economy, which switches off empty or silent tracks in ASIO.

In the visualization area there are a number of new presets for the K Metering System.
The presets supplied use the new options in order to implement metering according to K-12, K-14 and K-20 norms. Uniform reference volumes on different media can be achieved especially when mastering under normed listening conditions. The peakhold display continues to show signal peaks and serves to avoid clipping.

Using the Waveform Generator you can now create additional Brownian Noise (1/f² noise) and Pink Noise (1/f noise). Here uncorrelated stereo noise is created.

FreeDB acquires information on CD track names and artists

  • in the CD import dialog you can request information about the desired CD
  • in the CD burning dialog and in the CD/DVD menu you can carry out a search on the basis of the set track markers.
  • in the Arranger an inverse search is also possible with "Online CD Search". Here you can set track markers automatically for known albums.
Advanced solo and monitoring functions (only for Mixer FX Monitoring /Hybrid Engine)
From now on you can use a solo bus with AFL and PFL routing as well as a unique volume control function in the master section of the standard mixer.

If you have not selected any solo output, but instead pressed "Solo bus inactive/Solo in Place", the Monitor fader changes the audible master level. The internal level for bouncing and burning, however, remains unchanged.

The function "Global: Solo exclusive", which switches the solo behavior of all channels to "Solo exclusive" is also new. In this mode you can switch a single track to "solo" by clicking on the "Solo" button on a specific channel. Here "Solo" mode is deactivated for all other tracks.

Integration of external effects or synthesizers (just for "Mixer FX Monitoring/Hybrid Engine") via the new dialog "Project Options -> External effects".

There is a new global function that can be used to assign inputs and outputs for external effect devices or synthesizers. The latencies that appear are taken into account by latency compensation. You can also set up effect send and effect return tracks in the same dialog.

Low Latency Automation. The volume and panorama curves are activated when writing volume and pan-automations, not when activating the automation button. When creating a new curve, the range in front of the automation start remains at its old value.

Updated MAGIX Plug-ins Suites
Newly available:
  • 4 new models for Variverb
  • New buttons for the Vintage Effect Suite
  • Corvex in Complex Mode also usable as a reverb device
  • Filtox with variable frequency filter types
  • "Console" for all plug-ins with preset management and A/B comparison
  • All plug-ins now support the Silence Economy feature

The new "Inactive" state for VST instruments and VST effects
Plug-ins can now be completely deactivated so that memory space can be freed up. When reactivating the plug-ins the last state is restored in its entirety.
If you set VST plug-ins to "Inactive" by pressing "Shift+Alt+Click" in the plug-in slot of the corresponding track, these plug-ins are completely removed from RAM. This way, no more resources are used in conjunction with the hardware systems like "PowerCore" or "UAD".

VST MIDI Out + Audio Out Recording (just for Mixer FX Monitoring/Hybrid Engine)
Now you can record VSTi audio outputs for VSTi return tracks by activating recording in these tracks as you would do normally. "MIDI Out" can be activated for every track VST plug-in or VSTi in the Plug-in Panel menu. This causes MIDI data of the VSTi to be sent and recorded in another track.
By activating the option "VST MIDI Out recording" on a track you can record all received VSTi MIDI Out data in the corresponding track. If MIDI Thru is activated, this signal can also be routed to another VSTi/VST-FX or external MIDI device.

MIDI-Editor Multi-Object Editing (MO-Editing)
With the MIDI Multi-Object Editing function all selected MIDI objects are activated by clicking on the "MIDI Editor" button in the Arranger.
In an already-opened MIDI Editor you can include additional MIDI objects by clicking on them while holding down the Shift key.
In the MIDI Editor you can activate a display filter for the current track. Data from other tracks are then grayed out or made invisible. Similarly, the visual display of the current object range is possible. The active object or the active track can also be selected via a selection menu.

Score Editor: Each track can contain a maximum of 48 staves. When Multi-Object editing over multiple tracks the score from the systems of each track are compiled together. The staves of a track can be used as an instrument or instrument group within a score.

The entire score can be obtained by using the Multi-Object Editing feature and showing all MIDI tracks in the Score Editor simultaneously. A vocal excerpt can be obtained by showing the track of the desired instrument only or an instrument group in the Score Editor.

Score MusicXML Export. Now you can export your score as a MusicXML file as well so that it can then be further edited in stave editing applications. Finale, Sibelius, Forte and many other MusicXML files can be imported. Converters are also available for transforming MusicXMLs into other formats. You can find out more at www.musicxml.org.

During the MusicXML export, all properties of the score except for the page layout, like staves, notes and pauses, bar groups, keys, polyphonic voices, lead signs, enharmonic change, etc. are transferred. Line breaks, the distance between systems and page formats are not transferred.
If you create your composition in Samplitude, you should set score settings here in order to be able to edit and navigate more easily through the score view. You can then continue editing the score in order to optimize the layout and notation in the familiar environment of your stave editing application.
Converting to MusicXML format has the advantage that, unlike with the standard MIDI file format, many manual settings and optimizations of the score, like the number of scores, key, voice allocation, pitch, etc., remain the same.

Additional new MIDI features:
  • Quantization commands "Quantize score start", "Quantize note length", "Quantize score start and note length". Here you can quantize the notes of all selected MIDI objects whenever you like via the "MIDI" menu > "Apply MIDI quantization/Reset MIDI quantization", without having to open the MIDI Editor.
  • New filter functions for the MIDI Event List.
  • In the VSTi Manager you can now route individual outputs from software instruments directly to a specific track. When clicking on a single output, a track selection menu appears.
  • You can now freeze software instruments as well directly by using the VSTi Manager.
  • Improved routing assistant for integrating VST instruments.
Advanced drag & drop function for effects in the Mixer
  • DX/VST can now be copied between tracks and masters as well
  • DX/VST can be exchanged using drag & drop
If all you want to do is move shift effects between the channels in the mixer instead of copying them, simply keep the Shift button pressed while dragging & dropping.
