For years now, the Leipzig music production company and classical music label "GENUIN" has been used to going new directions: since its founding ten years ago, a decision was made to consistently favor hard disk recording, and this at a time when the industry was still promoting digital tape maschines by Sony, Alesis, and Tascam. Even then, GENUIN's audio engineers in Detmold, Germany, were using PCs and Samplitude to create their orchestral and chamber music productions.

In the meantime, GENUIN (the picture shows from left to right the three managing Tonmeisters Michael Silberhorn, Alfredo Lasheras Hakobian and Holger Busse) has become Germany's leading recording team for orchestral productions for video games. Besides orchestral recordings for "Anno 1702", "Die Gilde 2", "Spellforce 2", and "Paraworld", the 60-minute soundtrack for "The Settlers: Rise of an Empire", a multi-duty production of a symphonic orchestra (the Brandenburgischen Staatsorchester Frankfurt), was also made using the software.

The recordings were made completely in high-quality stereo and 5.1 Surround sound; a novelty for computer games. No wonder, that the soundtracks have won awards nationally and internationally, including the German Developer Prize for 2006 and 2007, and the world's most important computer music prize, the G.A.N.G award in San Francisco.

Holger Busse, sound engineer and co-founder of GENUIN, says: "Sequoia and Samplitude convinced us from the start. They were the first PC-based professional audio systems, they were fast, stable, and above all they were capable of being used day-to-day. Luckily, nothing has changed about all of this; the scope of functions and the flexibility alone have grown enormously. Lastly, but not least of all, there is no serious alternative since the integration of the 'Spectral Cleaning' feature."
