Berlin, January 28, 2010

Starting from June 2009, Depeche Mode has recorded all concerts on the current "Tour of the Universe 2009 / 2010" with Sequoia. To this day, the software has been used during more than 70 concerts in Europe, the USA and Latin America. For each performance, a total of 64 tracks are recorded using an RME MADI card on a PC from Digital AudionetworX, Berlin.

Most live concert recordings may be purchased online on the band website. Some of the recordings have also been used for radio and TV broadcasts. Anthony King, the Depeche Mode live sound engineer, created the mixes completely in Sequoia.

King is also responsible for the recording during concerts: "The combination of RME, the Digital AudionetworX PC, and Sequoia has proved to be extremely stable and reliable. It is sometimes impossible to pay much attention to a recording system, especially in a live situation. For this reason, it is even more important that the software works without glitches and may be configured quickly. We are very pleased with the results."

02|19|2008 Husky Hoskulds mixing and mastering Yael Naim's "New Soul"

Millions of people know the title song of the current Apple MacBook Air-Campaign "New Soul". Singer/Songwriter Yael Naim celebrates high chart rankings in all of Europe and the USA with this hit song. Producer Husky Höskulds has contributed a great deal to the success by mixing and mastering "New Soul" and part of the album "Yael Naim" - with Sequoia!

We asked Husky a few questions concerning this production:

How did you get to know Yael Naim?
Actually, i've yet to even meet her. She contacted me after hearing some other albums i'd mixed, sent me the files on dvd's, and off i went...

Where did you mix the song?
The song (and about half of the album) was mixed at my studio in Los Angeles, and then i finished the album, and mastered it in my studio in Iceland. It's an exact copy of the one in Los Angeles, so i just have to bring my PC with me, and plug it in...

Which Sequoia features did you find most helpful during the mixing/mastering process?
As far as mixing, the Object Based Editing is what's the most important to me. For mastering, it's simple. It has all the features i need.. amazing stability and uncompromising sound. Can't really ask for more than that!

Which plug-ins did you use?
I use a lot of the UAD plugins, the Algorithmix EQ's, the URS Fultec and Altiverb. Those are the main ones. For incidental stuff, i'll use the Fabfilter Delay, the Audio Damage stuff and a handful of others, like Guitar Rig etc.
