Carsten Kümmel

Live-Engineer for Robin Gibb

Above all, Carsten Kümmel has made a name for himself as Robin Gibb's live mixer in the world of rock and pop. Furthermore, he's also very involved as an audio engineer for classical and jazz music. He has created recordings for the Münchner Symphoniker and the Bundesjugendjazzorchester with Samplitude and Sequoia. His broad range of talents reflects the numerous additional music productions (e.g. Marianne Faithfull, Heather Nova, Wir sind Helden) and teaching positions (Music Supprt Group, München; Popmusikproduktion FH Darmstadt-Dieburg) he can count among his successes.

With regard to working with Samplitude/Sequoia, Carsten says:

"There are several reasons which made the decision to use Samplitude/Sequoia an easy one: Most importantly, I'm independent from hardware.
I often travel by jet for my duties as a sound engineer, which makes it difficult to take my 19" racks along with me, but rather only smaller interfaces, or the laptop's sound card.

If I'm going to do big recordings, then I have the option of selecting any hardware without having to switch to a larger interface. Another reason is of course the extremely high quality and user-friendliness of the software. The available plug-ins and filters simply convinced me.

In addition to this, there's an extremely strong library with convolution effects and editing options that I only know from extremely expensive software.
