The FAT OF EXCELLENCE private audio classes started last August, 2008. The Cologne institute is led by Bob Humid and offers workshops and seminars all about professional music production, studio technology, and label and DJ culture. The regularly occurring audio courses will involve thorough examination of the following topics:
1. MASTERING (bob humid) with Sequoia 10
2. CIRCUIT-BENDING (joker nies)
3. DIY SYNTHESIZER CONSTRUCTION (holger heckeroth)
4. DUBBING TECHNIQUES (numinos)
5. REAKTOR 5 (der tante renate)
6. LABEL MANAGEMENT (mathias schaffhäuser)
The seminars will take place in the Fat Of Excellence Studios, Cologne, close to Barbarossaplatz.
Studio and workshop manager Bob Humid explains the Fat of Excellence private audio class concept:
"Experience the experience of experience. Competent instructors and course prices for less than 100.00 Euros per individual course offer depth of knowledge, theory, and above all practice & pragmatics in the sense of straight "no bullshit" talks which are delivered in a cool and relaxed manner. Questions should be asked, participation here and there will be required, and maybe even after the course the discussion can continue over a beer in the neighbouring club and pub district. Our goal is to consistently offer cool, credible, roadworthy, and affordable workshops which clearly differ from "bread & butter" courses available everywhere due to the diversity of instructors and topics. We'll be speaking openly about what others glorify as the "production secrets" of professional knowledge and clear up this or that misunderstanding or prejudice in the audio scene."
